Offa's Dyke Path Dyke Memorial Stone Panpunton Hill
Cwm-sanaham Hill (1343 ft) Garbett Hall Llanfair Hill
Spoad Hill/Springhill
Description:
80 miles to 87 miles. I left my bike just inside the entrance of a farmyard with the permission of the farmer who was unloading fertiliser from a lorry. I had arrived late at Knighton, the start of the walk, to find that the factory where I had previously obtained consent to park the car was closed, so no workers were around. I parked in almost the same place and hurried to start. After very briefly looking around Offa's Shop I missed the memorial stone to the Dyke. I crossed the River Teme and railway, then a steep ascent up Panpunton Hill where I took photos of Knighton. Just before the top of the hill there was a field full of daisies. Views were good across the valley to Wales. It was a steep descent to the muddy valley just before Garbett Hall. I crossed the bridge which had been built by Commandos. The climb was steady to the highest part of the Way at 1408 ft, on Llanfair Hill. The Dyke was very pronounced when ascending the hill. There was a dog in the road at Spring Hill and a small diversion on the north side of the wood. The return cycle was hard going.

Location Map: - www.streetmap.co.uk, - Start: at Knighton Finish: Newcastle

Hazards:
Due to erosion by the volume of walkers, a sign instructs all walkers to leave the Dyke and follow a track near the top of Llanfair Hill.
