Port Holland Porthluney Caerhays Castle
Greeb Point Hemmick Beach Cadythrew
Gorran Haven Portmellon Mevagissey

General:
Parker car in Mevagissey car park & cycled up private road as advised by
car park attendant. Found gate to Tregoney Hill after a few dead ends.
Lifted bike over gate and walked to top of steep hill. Towards Kestle.
Cycled 6 miles, of narrow lanes via Tubbs Mills and a second steep hill to
West Portholland. Squirrel fell out of tree in front of me. Locked bike to
coast path finger post and started walking wast towards East Portholland.
First ascent of many from Portholland to Porthluney Cove. And the day's
first big surprise the picturesque Caerhays Caste & its gate house. With
the castle in the backgrownd, the first path indecision at a gate without
any footpath signs. Decided the correct route with the help or a couple
from Truro. Disturbed first of hundreds of pheasants on slopes of Greeb
Point and observed first mushroom of many different types. Skirted
deserted Hemmick beach with its loan cottage and mini waterfall & ford
to first big climb up Dodman Point with it's huge cross. Long walk around
the point and further conversations past Vault beach far below to
Cadythrew Rock. Round the rock to Gorran Haven via a steep & narrow
path. More elevation over carn rocks with a short rest on an huge
exposed peice of quartz to the idyllic chapel point. Onwards around the
head to Portmellon. A tarmac walk into Mevagissey past all types of
buildings, conventional & modern. The walk concludes with a delightful
finish high above the harbour among gardens & benches. Through the
very narrow streets and the harbour back to the car.
A delightful strenuous walk.
