Description:
Washing up chores at Youth Hostel. Good walk along valley at start
of day. Many stiles. Maiden Way track notably straight. Follow path with care all
day. Round Hill, Wain Rigg and Black Hill featureless. Thirlwall Castle and
Hadrian's Wall very interesting. Walked along main road to Haltwhistle railway
station. Long wait for local train to Carlisle.

Location: Start of Walk

Hazards: Care required at Lintley Farm by railway bridge. Care required at
Burnstones by railway bridge. Follow map with great care, correct route
not always easy. Many stiles and gates.
