General:
Third day's walking on 'Coast to Coast' (C2C). 28 miles to 46 miles.
Started from Seatoller at 9:45 am. Brisk pace through Borrowdale,
but we all had a rest when a posse of low level fell runners passed
on a narrow section. Slight detour around Rosthwaite compared with
previous C2C walk. Shop used by some of the group to stock provisions,
but this time I knew the direction from the shop to the bridge over
Stonethwaite Beck. It's difficult to make the same mistake twice,
but always possible by yours truely. As we walked towards Eagle Crag
memories flooded back of my camping night the first time around.
Started raining as we stopped for a while at top of Lining Crag. Very
wet and boggy over Greenup Edge. We took the alternative route to
Helm Crag where I took photo en-route and was almost left behind.
Lunch on summit of Helm Crag with Kevin. See photo of 'Cow & Calf'.
Excellent scenery, especially east & south. Extremely hard work again
up Great Tongue. Looked for monument near Grisedale Tarn with Doug but
disappointed. Fell over hurrying down Grisedale while all 'A' party
watched. Walked into rear of Hotel in Patterdale at 6:00 pm. Jubilation
from Kevin and myself, Coventry City won their match to stay in the
Premier Division.

Hazards:
Usual care required in boggy terrain, especially in wet and misty
conditions. Extra care required on Greenup Edge and top of Great
Tongue, path difficult to follow through bog. Study map carefully.
