95 miles to 104 miles.
I parked my bike in a hedge at Pant-y-bwch, then drove to Brompton Bridge Lodge and parked the car on waste ground. It was easy walking across meadows to Long Mountain, navigating a multitude of stiles and a seasonal large number of fields of bullocks. I disturbed dozens of rabbits near Lower Gwarthlow, and watched them all scamper back to their burrows. The lane at Rownal Cottages wasn't overgrown as suggested in the Guide Book. There was no diversion near Devil's Hole, the Way now was direct to Pound House, having been straightened in 1988. Nantcribba Castle mound was indistinct from the road. Between the A490 and the lane at Court House I walked with a rambler, commenting on the fact that there wasn't a Way sign from the junction with the A490 and B4388. Whilst talking to the rambler we walked past a herd of young bullocks. There was a long pulling ascent up the lane at the start of Long Mountain. At the entrance to Green Wood there were barking dogs at the Lodge, which I was pleased to see were fenced in. There were bridges over streams leading into Offa's Pool. It was a steep climb to the road where I had parked my bike at Pant-y-bwch. I returned to the car at 8:45pm.
Hazards:
It was very muddy in woods. Beware of bullocks in fields.
