Lillington St. Mary Magdalene Tower Outing

All Saints, 6 bells, 11 cwt in G#

1. Tenor - Grandsire Doubles (Touch).
2. Treble - St Simon's Doubles (Touch).
3. Bell 3 - Rang Down.

Ground floor ring, Long ropes.

Cuddington ....................................................... 11:15 to 12:00 Noon

St. Nicholas, 8, 9 1/2 cwt in G

1. Treble - Grandsire Triples (Touch).
2. Tenor - Stedman Triples (Touch).

First floor ring. Small chamber for 8 ropes.
Treble and first very close to wall. Church very well kept, inside and outside. Inside all emenities and all relatively new. Church floor new stone slabs with new furniture seats, same colour as church carpet. Interesting conversation with the lady who opened the tower for us, she knew Pam Coxston of Sherbouren, ringing instruction book fame. Parked car next to beautiful thatched cottage.


Lunch in The Green Dragon public house, Churchway, Haddenham Village, by the village green, village pond and St Mary's Church.

St. Mary the Virgin, 8 bells, 17.5 cwt in E

1. Fifth - Rang up.
2. Treble - Touch of Grandsire Triples.
3. Fourth - Plain hunt of eight.

Second floor ring.
Very old ringing chamber, with very old clock and huge stone clock weight.

Monks Risborough .............................................. 3:15 to 4:00pm

St. Dunston, 6 bells, 13 cwt in F#

1. Second & Fifth - Rang up.
2. Second - Touch of Bob Minor
3. Fourth - Plain Hunt on eight.

First Floor Ring with ladder and trap door.
Last two weeks of Arts Studio Work

Chinnor .................................................................... 4:30 to 5:00pm

St. Andrew, 6 bells, 10 cwt in G.

1. Fourth - Touch of Grandsire Doubles

First floor ring with a very low entrance door to spiral stairway.
No fifth bell rope. Broken at an earlier wedding during the day.

All the ringers and friends enjoyed a pleasant day in the warm sunshine, while travelling through the Buckinghamshire countryside, within the shadow of the Chiltern Hills.
Thanks to Roger Howes and Richard Taulbut for organising a great day out while ringing the Buckinghamshire village bells.


Weather : 25oC Hot, humid & sunny.

Ropes : Not damp or stiff. Generally very good condition.
