Church with very tall spire (re-built in 1924) is situated near the town centre of St. Ives, close to the banks of the Great Ouse River. Spier top knocked off by a plane in 1918.

Hemingford Grey ......................................... 11:15 to 12:00 Noon

St. James, 8, 11-2-13.5 in G#

4. Treble - Touch of Grandsire Triples.

Ground floor ring, with long ropes. Bells rehung in 1988.
Tower and spire originally built from circa 1160, but a hurricane in Sepember 1741 caused the spire to be blown into the River Great Ouse. The spire was never replaced so the unusual truncated spire is still an unusual feature today. The church is situated on the river bank at the end of Church Street, off High Street near the centre of the village.

Hemingford Abbots ..................................... 12:15 to 1:00pm

St. Margaret, 6 bells, 14 cwt in G#

1. Treble - Rounds & Call Changes.
2. Treble - Touch of Grandsire Doubles.

First floor ring.
Tall Spier and tower, partly rebuilt in 1911. Church situated on the banks of the River Great Ouse, near the end of Church Lane, off High Street in the centre of the village.

Lunch in The Axe & Compass public house, Hemingford Abbots Village, on the junction of High Street & Church Lane.

Huntingdon .................................................... 2:45 to 3:30pm

St. Mary's, 8 bells, 16-0-21 in F#

1. Bell 6 - Plain Hunt on 7 Bells
2. Bell 6 - Rang Down

First Floor Ring. Tower Unsafe.
The steps to the ringing chamber are very uneven and in general poor condition. The entrance to the ringing chamber is very awkward. Best approached from above rather than walking up the steps. Ringing Chamber in large, but in a very poor condition.

Brampton ........................................................ 4:00 to 4:45pm

St. Mary Magdalene, 6 bells, 13-2-26 in F.

1. Treble - St. Clements Minor

Anti-clockwise ring from the first floor. The tower is recognised as one of the best examples of post reformation construction in the gothic style.
The church is located on Church Road, between High Street and Huntingdon Road (B1514).

All the ringers and friends enjoyed a pleasant day in the sunshine, while travelling through the Cambridgeshire countryside, alongside the Great Ouse River.
Thanks to Roger Howes and Richard Taulbut for organising a great day out while ringing the Cambridgeshire town and village bells.

Weather : Warm, sunny and dry, little wind.

Ropes : Not damp or stiff. Generally in good condition.
