Description:
The walk started from a holiday cottage in West Charleton. As the main road was very narrow we took care to avoid traffic from the cottage to the alleyway. We went through the kissing gate to a pasture field, where there were a few cows in the far corner. We took the right footpath to the main footpath towards Marsh, an easy stroll, then onto the Chris Rogers Memorial Hide. From the hide there were good views of Marsh and the estuary. It was a short distance from the hide to a stile and the estuary beach. We took a leisurely walk back to the village past Marsh with good views of the village ahead and St Mary's church with its corner extension to the tower. We took a slight detour ahead into the village through the thick bushes and past the Millennium Oak, planted on 26 February 2000. Even more care was taken at the main road A379, with further to walk back to the holiday cottage. This was a good start to the holiday with the boyz.
