Description:
Started from Pinehurst, Cubbington, walked through the village via some of its passage-ways to the public footpath passing close to Hill Farm. Continued over the hill alongside some newly ploughed fields to Glebe Farm, passing a good example of an unscheduled path route change, where the stile is overgrown, the public now use an adjacent gap in the hedge. We passed the Runghills Wood where I played & collected bluebells during my mis-spent youth. Fond memories of care-free days. Continued over the 'set-a-side' fields to Redhouse Farm and the view across the River Leam to Offchurch Bury. More memories of passing the Bury with David Cross, an old mate in our apprentice teenage days, where we miscalculated the length of the walk so it became dark. Too busy nattering to worry, we crossed the field in the pitch black, when we were suddenly shocked by the illumination of Offchurch Bury House. What a surprise and fright. Next came White Bridge where John & I could see that there was obviously a watermill at some time. Yet again, memories of my youth when I thought it was a good idea to drop Peter the dog from the bridge into the River Leam. The poor dog was never the same to me again. Served me right. From 'White Bridge' we passed by Floodgate Spinney and over Offchurch Bury to the village, passing under a Horse Chestnut Tree with hundreds of conkers on the ground. Can't wait for the Grandson to grow into a schoolboy. Passed the 'Stag' public house with many memories of the odd pint or two drunk through the years. One night the bar was packed and I wanted to buy a drink for my sister. As I put my hand in my pocket for some money, my elbow bounced off a ladies posterior. She hastily turned round with horror on her face, then smiled and said 'Do that again'. How impressionable you are in your teenage years. Left the village through Manor Farm & Fields Farm Buildings to River Leam Footbridge and fishermans' cars. Sharp turn right over the meadows alongside the river to Hunningham, passing several Sweet Chestnut and Cherry Trees. Quick visit to the stables in Hunningham to see John's daughter, Evette's horses, before walking past the Red Lion pub by the Long Narrow Bridge. Continued over the fields past the sun flowers to Weston under Wetherley Village by the church. No ringable bells. From Weston we pasted Weston Hall to South Cubbington Wood. Last few fields, with very wide verges, back to Cubbington & Pinehurst.

Location : www.streetmap.co.uk, - Start & finish from Cubbington 434360/268445, - via Hunningham 437580/268370, - via Offchurch 435950/265875. (Click on location and use Zoom).

Hazards : Take care not to destroy crops when crossing or skirting fields. The local farmer is not encouraged to renew the stiles etc., when the public does not respect the countryside and the farmers assets.
