Steady ascent from Porthcurno beach to Percella Point and onto Horrace Point & Cribba Head, with good views of Minack Theatre on Minack Point. Unusual plant found on the gorse on Gribba Head, looks like pink cobwebs all over a few of the plants. Steep descent & ascent to & from the delightful Pemberth Cove. This Cove, according to a plaque on a cottage wall was transferred to the National Trust in 1957 in memory of those who died in the Second World War. Perfect scenery for the local painters and artists. Further perfect scenery to Porthguarnon, another delightful unspoiled cove with no human interference. So much so, a seal was fishing in the shallow sea around the rocks. Steep ascent from the cove across Trevedran Cliffs past Mersten Point to St Loy's Cove. A very different section of the walk through the woods down to the bolders at the top of the beach. Care taken and required crossing the bolders, especially at high tide. Yet another ascent from the beach over Boscowan Point and past the Lighthouse at Tater-du. Before dropping under Tregurnon Cliffs, a strange plant was noticed near the path, like a small bush with strange dull heads of flowers. Finally reaching the quay walls of Lamorna Harbour. This section of the South West Coastal path looked easy on paper (the map), but in practice there are big boulders to negotiate at every stride. Location: www.streetmap.co.uk , - Start Porthcurno 138470/022540, - Finish Lamorna 145020/024055, - via St Loy's Cove 142375/023095. (Click on location and use Zoom). Hazards: Take plenty of water if the weather forecast is hot and/or sunny. Coastal cliffs shelter the northerly wind, making the sea look as calm as a mill pond. Not a wave in sight, only a few ripples. Lots of insects around the path, especially butterflies when sheltered between the high bushes along the path. No sheep or cattle on this section of the coastline, difficult to understand why. Walking on this section not easy due to the path constantly changing height and the many large stones embedded in the path.
