Good track from farm to Roman steps. Discussed directions with three walkers who parked next to us in the field. They advised us to divert from roman steps at wall. We found correct wall three quarters of way up roman steps, very steep ascent on northern side of wall. Track only visible if followed very carefully. Very difficult to walk over stone and bolder strewn ground. Scenery very impressive for entire walk. Small paths combined after leaving wall near top. Tale care to ensure which path is used, difficult to remember correct way. Met lady descending as we neared leaving the wall. She explained how she had lost her path and had to retrace steps. Nobody at top when we arrived. Excellent views of Rhinog and Snowdon mountains. Two ladies arrived with dogs as we were leaving top. Took wrong path down for a short while, despite my markings, but soon diverted to correct path. Could not be sure of an alternative path to roman steps so we retraced back to car park. Met a man walking whole length of Rhinogs at top of steep descent just before roman steps.
