Description:
Day 3: 41-60 miles. Last to leave Beinglas Farm after discussions with landlady over clothes. Way passed rear of farm along a stony track through the picturesque valley of numerous waterfalls. Path constructed of rocks in many places along this section where the route was obviously very boggy. Very low bridge under railway, would have been the right height for Martin. Talked to couple on Old Military Road, he came from China. Passed 'northern' couple just after large style at junction for Crianlarich. They sped past us several times that day. Just before Kirkton we passed an American couple with covers over their rucksacks. Surprised to see a small field full of goats at Kirkton. Lunch by farm gate just after St Fillan's Chapel. Enjoyed a welcome pint in hotel at Tyndrum. Passed couple from St Albans and last shop for 28 miles. Easy walking from Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy with superb views from military road across Auch Gleann and slopes of Beinn Dorain. Road walls crumbling in places. Passed Highland cattle. Bunkhouse £6 a night without linen or pillow. Gnats very lively. Good evening meal and pint in hotel while talking to German pair. Excellent breakfast in hotel without boots on but unfortunately no showers.
