Excellent traces of ancient roman road, where I followed part of the Pennine Way. The roman road was not visible from the Pennine Way when I walked it previously on 2nd August 1981, Very good views across Manchester on a clear day. Steep hill from '4' to '8'. There was good paths, but could be boggy after heavy rian. Method of collecing wayer from moor to reservoir very interesting. Very good potential views to west and north. Easy path to follow throughout the walk. Parking good except at White House Pub could be busy at times.
Hazards:
Care required from '8' to '9'. Correct path not always obvious but virtually impossible to find drain even in mist. Bridge across drain at '9'.
