General:
Ann drove me to Seatown for start of walk. Immediate
ascent from beach up Ridge Cliff with good views of
Seaton and Golden Cap despite the very misty weather.
Long pull to summit, then an immediate steep drop before
another steep climb to top of Doghouse Hill. Gentle ridge
up to the highest point for day at Thorncombe Beacon.
Lots of good views of previous summits and the coastline
ahead to the east. Good to natter with fellow walkers.
Very steep descent from summit initially then a more
moderate descent into Eype and onto Eype stoney beach.
Yet another steep ascent from beach up west cliffe, but
this time thankfully not a long ascent. Plenty of evidence
of landslip along a fragile coastline. Another steady
descent this time into West Bay with its secure, but small
harbour, and highrise buildings. Soon found the bus stop
at the George Hotel for journey west. Thought that buses
X53 were every hour but on examination of the timetable
the winter bus service is every two hours. Luckily I had
only half an hour to wait. Another great day on the south
west coastal path although very misty, oh for some
sunshine.
