Points of Interest and LINKS:
Coughton Court Arden Way St Leonard's Church
Description:
We parked at Coughton Court NT car park and walked to the main road at Cain Bridge to 'pick up' the Arden Way towards Spernall. We passed a flood defence sign, a reminder of recent problems. There was a good view of the Court buildings looking back from the Arden Way. Tufted ducks were spotted on the River Arrow near Lower Spurnall Farm. We passed newly planted trees by the river, just before the footbridge over the river. We turned back at Spernall Church, a small old lonesome church in a field. Staying on the east bank of the river for the return walk, we passed Lower Spurnall Farm henhouse, with a cuddly toy young gorilla sitting over the henhouse entrance. Local foxes beware! As we approached the Court buildings on the opposite side of the river a heron flew by and landed in the field nearby. We crossed the river again at Coughton Court, then shortly after turned right, back towards Coughton Court buildings. We finished the walk with a tour of the NT property, including great views from the castellated roof of the tower. Another enjoyable walk with the boyz.
