Description:
I parked at Homebase car park and cycled to Dorney Reach via Eton. I started walking from Dorney Reach via a passage from the road. From the start of the walk to Windsor there were sunny periods. I soon passed Summerleaze footbridge, Bray Marina, Cycling Route 4 sign, conservation plaque, Water Oakley Hotel, Windsor Marina etc. I had a long conversation with a Kenilworth walker walking to source. There were very few other Path walkers met during my journey to the Barrier. Excellent views from 'The Brocas'. I crossed the Windsor footbridge to South Bank with more good views of the castle. I sheltered from the rain by the footbridge. I continued in light rain passing Romney Lock to Home Park Meadow where the sun came out and my raincoat was discarded. There were more good views of the castle from Home Park to Victoria Bridge. I continued in very heavy rain to Albert Bridge, sheltering many times. It was easy walking along new cut to Old Windsor Lock. I saw elegant boats and houses through Old Windsor to Runnymede where the Magna Carta was signed. There was more easy walking alongside the road, on lush grass to Runnymede Park, passing the Magna Carta Monument. There was another windy shower in the park, then onto Bell Weir Lock, M25 and Homebase car park at the end of the walk. It had been a good walk, but a pity about the rain. I stopped at the Toby Inn, Old Windsor for a carvery.
