This was another Scottish varied walk with good views of the Cairngorms from the edge of the moors to the banks of the River Spey. A map was essential as the walk was difficult to follow. Unfortunately I disturbed a buzzard just before reaching Dreggie Farm. There was no track 150 yds from the end of the farm buildings but the old track could just be deduced by examining the lie of the land very carefully. From the corner of the the field I followed the old tracks past an old hut to gates in the protruding corner in fields. I continued ahead along the edge of fields to a gate on the edge of ‘thinned’ woods. I beared right over the next gate and followed the unused track to a good track. Turning left I continued straight ahead through a new gate, then followed the forest track downhill until a triangular junctions of tracks before turning left. I continued ahead until a fork in tracks and took the left track uphill for a few yards until I reached the covered reservoirs. From there I turned left and right and left again at the opposite corner of the reservoirs to a track down to town, crossing the old railway track by some industrial units. It was an easy walk to steps after Spey Bridge (built 1931). After the steps I crossed the road and took the left fork along the board of the Old Military Road, straight back to town following the Spey Long Distance Walk route to the edge of town.
