Points of Interest and LINKS:
AA Walks High Tor Riber Castle
Heights of Abraham Bonsall Village
Description:
Almost a perfect October day for an interesting walk. Just a little humid for walking up long steep inclines such as the Heights of Abraham, Steep walk immediately leaving car park, initially up a small back street, then up a steep alley and over a grassy field. Correct route very difficult to establish at all times. The appropriate wall will be reached after following the obvious oath to '4'. Look out for the church just after '5', it is just above the road on the left. Again, follow obvious path to Heights of Abraham, with Victoria Prospect Tower on the left. After a look around the ;Theme Park' if possible, walk up hill with the boundary fence on the left until a well defined path is found entering the wood with the high ground on the left. Do not take a path with the high ground on the right. A walker with a dog escorted me back to '11'. Follow hedged land to Bonsall. Vicious dog on concrete track leaving Bonsall. No right turn shortly after left at '15', care required. Cross good vehicle track in front of gate to farm '21'. Road a field to left between farm and '22'. Very few sign posts to follow.

Location Map: - www.streetmap.co.uk
Car Park at Matlock Bridge by the railway station.

Hazards:
An OS map is essential for this walk. Special care at '11' and points '15' to '21'. Approx 2 miles added to this walk in error.
