Keswick Catbells Bassenthwaite Lake
Skiddaw Blencathra Maiden Moor
Derwentwater Causey Pike
Description:
Parked under trees by lane from Keswick at foot of mountain. Start of path diverted to reduce corrosion, but not sign posted sufficiently for us to notice. Clambered up steep, rocky and loose track from road to path. Sylvia was not happy with the start so we progressed very slowly initially until a view emerged. Glorious views as the scenery unfolded in all directions. Sylvia and Clare waited just below the top as I scrambled upto the summit. We ran down hill in places until Sylvia slipped on the grass taking a shortcut to overtake Clare and I. The seriousness of the fall was not realised at first because there was no obvious signs of any problems apart from bruising. When we returned to the car Sylvia complained that her arm continued to ache more as time passed. Travelling through Keswick on our way back to the cottage at Crosthwaite we saw Hospital sign. We visited and the hospital where the arm was x-rayed and confirmed to be clearly broken.
