SOUTH WEST COASTAL PATH KIMMERIDGE to CHAPMANS ROAD Sunday 17th August 2014 ...............Walk No. 1063 |
|||||
South West Coastal Path No. 79 Total: 632 miles Time Taken: unknown Distance: Enjoyment: Weather: 3 hours n/a 5 miles 95% Drizzle Temp: Cloud: Rain: Visibility: Ground Conditions: 19oC 80% 5% Misty Excellent Nature: Cows, Jellyfish, & Seagulls Points of Interest: Kimmeridge Corfe Castle Clavell Tower Houns Tout Kimmeridge Ledges Rope Lake West Cliff Emmetts Hill Chapmans General: Drove to Kimmeridge Bay via Corfe Castle. Stopped on Lane to Church Knowle for a good photo of the castle between the trees. Pity the weather wasn't sunny. Ann dropped me at Kimmerage Bay car park after convincing the attendant in the toll booth that she wouldn't be long. He let us through without paying, but not without buying a tub of his own grown plum tomatoes. Continued my walk around the bay but had a little problem finding the steps upto the Clayell Tower (folly) all very obvious when you know. When I reached the cliff top, I watched wind surfers in the bay. Interesting tower, wanted to look closer by respected the 'private sign'. As I walked towards Cuddle and Clavell's head by Kimmeridge ledges, lots of joggers wanted to pass by. After a while I realised it was an official charity event with check points. The runners then the walkers slowly passed me all day. Kimmeridge ledges impressive as you walk along the top of the cliffs. Don't forget to look back so that all the views can be enjoyed.
