TABLE TENNIS NEWS

Fletcher from Phil Paine and all his friends for a wonderful evening.


Phil has always enjoyed sport including table table, football, tennis
and cricket. During his numerous years as a Leamington & District
Table Tennis Committee Member, Phil has helped many youngsters
play for the association and town, including Lynn, Julie and Tracy.
As a 'thank you' to Phil for the many hours of driving to table tennis
venues near and far, Lynn, Julie and Tracy decided to repay Phil a
little, by organising a surprise 50th birthday party. It was arranged
for Doug Lowe, Phil's long time tennis and table tennis club colleague,
and his good lady Sara, to supposedly take Phil for a meal in Warwick,
to celebrate his 50th birthday. Doug casually suggested that a pint in
WCC Staff Club would be a good idea before the meal. The only
problem, how to get Phil from the bar into the canteen area without
raising any suspicions. The steward came to Doug's assistance and
asked Phil to look at some table tennis equipment in a cupboard in
the canteen area. As Phil walked down the ramp towards the canteen
all Phil's many friends were waiting quietly in the dark on the blind
side from the ramp for the big arrival. As Phil rounded the corner,
the lights came on and the party poppers raised the roof. Lynn, Julie,
Karen & Tracey's evening was a success already.

Phil's friends from Table Tennis, Tennis, Cricket and work all enjoyed
an evening of speeches, cake cutting, buffet food and a disco.

To round the evening off, Phil invited all the quests to a last drink
on his behalf. Did I miss it?
