St. Mary Magdalene Church - Lillington, Warwickshire, England QUARTER PEAL - Plain Bob Minor .. Start 5:00 pm .. Finish 5:45 pm Celebrating : Derek Harwood's 60th Birthday Treble..... Derek Harwood 2 ........... Barbara Howes 3 ........... John Nutt 4 ........... John Newborn 5 ........... Roger Howes Tenor...... Richard Taulbut (Conductor) Ringing quality good, with very few spells of indifferent periods. One of our better quarters. I was asked to ring at short notice, so I thought I was helping out with the quarter. When the quarter was complete I was pleasantly surprised when Richard gave a small speech and presented me with a Quarter Peal Certificate. I was amazed when everyone explained that my wife, Sylvia, had sponsored the quarter to celebrate my 60th birthday. The money raised was towards the restoration of all the bells. The last major work in the tower was in 1927, when the three old bells were augmented to eight and hung in a new frame. After eighty years constant use, all the moving parts are very worn and require restoring to their former glory. Multiple Quarter Peals: Ringers have completed too many Quarters to count. Weather : Cold and overcast. Ropes : Slightly Damp but not stiff. CLICK HERE - For Recent Quarters Homepage | |||||
